Symptom:

Rotate Unit does not start rotating.

The shot pin is available as an entire unit or as a spare part. It can be replaced without taking the Rotate Unit apart.
 
Please follow the steps to replace the shot pin unit:
  1. Disconnect the power supply and the pneumatic air supply and prevent them from being switched on by any other person.
  2. Remove the safety covers to gain free access.
  3. Take the sensors out of their sensor brackets and mark their positions for reinstallation. Mixing them will negatively influence the behavior of the rotate.
  4. Remove the pneumatic air hose from the fitting.
  5. Loosen and remove the four mounting bolts of the shot pin unit. (Make sure that you retain all fasteners.) ATTENTION: The unit can fall out completely...

Since the rotation is guided by a large bearing located towards the bottom of the rotate, four support bearings are required at the rotating plate. They need to be adjusted to keep the rotation plate centered in the cutout while not blocking the rotation or creating additional drag. The hole pattern for these bearings is pre made in the plate with each hole being 0.1 mm further out in relation to the centerline. Installing the bearing in the sufficient hole changes the location in relation to the rotating plate and adjusts the support. The set up is completed before delivery, but the procedure should be redone if a bearing needs to be replaced or if there is too much play in the rotation plate.

The safety clutch is a safety element that has to be adjusted properly to ensure operator safety. LOGOMAT automation systems, Inc. pre-adjusts the safety clutch before delivery. If further adjustments are necessary, please first check the operating requirements. Overloading the safety clutch should be avoided in any case.
 
The safety clutch is not infinitely variable. It should be adjusted loosely enough so that the operator is able to stop the Rotate Unit during rotation without excessive force, but not loose enough to cause a stall when the shot pin is pushed in at the ramps.

Electrical voltage warning: The entire conveyor system must be de-energized before performing the following work!
 
The drive motor of the Rotate Unit can be replaced by the operating company. Please follow the instructions:
  1. Disconnect the power supply and prevent it from being switched on by any other person.
  2. Remove the four bolts of the motor mounting plate and take the whole unit off.
  3. Take the bolts of the mounting plates and take them off the motor shaft using adequate tools.

All LOGO!MAT Components are developed to make very little preservative maintenance necessary but all components will last way longer if the following tasks get do in the shown intervals. The maintenance and inspection work listed below is to be carried out at the listed intervals to keep the warranty and to follow up constantly if the LOGO!MAT Component is working well. Any defects found must be documented and fixed before operating again. All time specifications are based on single-shift operations.

The shot pin is activated by an integrated pneumatic cylinder which is manufactured by LOGOMAT automation systems, Inc. The pin is spring loaded to return in the extended position for safety reasons. In case of a pressure loss, the shot pin will go down and the Rotate Unit will stop in the next index bushing.
 
A 3/2 pneumatic valve is needed for operating the shot pin. The installation is done with one 6 mm air pressure line connected to the pre-installed fitting. The air hose has to be routed through the cable track to ensure no damage while rotating the unit.
 

Damages on the Rotate Unit or on surrounding machines which were caused by incorrect operation or control errors are not in the responsibility of LOGOMAT automation systems, Inc.

Two sensors are needed for every stop position of the Rotate Unit. (Two adjoining tracks would need four, three tracks would need six and a rotate with all four exits would need eight rotation switches.)
 
The drive motor of the roller conveyor has to be turned off once both pallet present switches see the target at the pallet. The drive motor has to stay off during the entire rotation process.
 
The controls of the Rotate Unit need many interfaces with all adjoining components. The details depend on the required pallet flow and the conveyor layout.

The LOGO!MAT Rotate Unit must be equipped with sensors to guarantee smooth operation. LOGOMAT recommends controlling the rotation drive through a frequency converter to allow a soft stop and a possible acceleration of the rotation. These electronic components must be supplied and installed by the operating company.
 
The controls logic for proper function and safe operation must be provided by the customer if the unit isn’t ordered with the LOGO!MAT ITB Control Integration.
