The LOGO!MAT Rotate Unit can rotate 270° in total. Hard stops prevent a full 360° rotation.
 
To avoid destroying the energy chain and binding the Rotate Unit, it is imperative that the 0°, 90°, 180° and 270° marks on the base frame and on the rotation part correspond.
 
The home position is defined by engaging the Rotate Unit in the 0° position. From the home position the Rotate Unit can be rotated counter-clockwise in 90° steps up to the 180° mark, clockwise only to the 90° mark.
 
In combination with the reversible conveyor track, the pallet can be conveyed to all adjoining conveyor tracks either with a straight pallet flow or a reverse pallet flow.

Rotate Unit: %Mechanical Installation


The set up and installation must be performed by trained and authorized personnel only. All tasks that are not described in this technical documentation must be performed by LOGOMAT personnel or with their supervision to maintain the warranty for the LOGO!MAT Rotate Unit. The set up and the installation can affect the functionality. The set up and installation can affect the functionality and LOGOMAT does not warranty installations that are not supervised or performed by LOGOMAT personnel.
 
Only authorized personnel are permitted to install a Rotate Unit. Before the Rotate Unit can be fitted, unpack it, clean and look for any damage. If there is damage contact LOGOMAT Customer Service. The Rotate Unit cannot be installed with any damages.
 
For the set up and installation of the Rotate Unit, please pay attention to the following steps:
  1. Take the side covers off and install as well as wire all sensors and set up the controls accordingly. Wire the conveyor drive motor and feed the cable through the wire tray. Make sure that all sensor switching distances are correctly adjusted. Connect the shot pin to the pneumatic air supply.
  2. Set up the first adjoining conveyors according to the installation manual and level it to the rest of the already installed conveyor.

  3. Make sure that the orientation of the rotate unit is correct as labeled and mount it to the adjoining spur. Make sure that the mounting bracket gets loosened to allow a leveling of the rotate.
  4. Adjust the height of the rotate unit to the adjoining conveyor. The top of rollers should be leveled and the centerline should line up.
  5. Make sure that the rotate unit gets leveled in all directions before all other conveyor will become attached.
  6. Once the Rotate Unit and the entire conveyor system are confirmed level, tighten all bolts and anchor the Rotate Unit through the leveling feet to the concrete.
  7. Before operating the rotate, make sure that you release the shot pin and spin the Rotate Unit by hand to ensure the proper alignment and movement in the complete way of rotation.
  8. Test the rotate before applying full weight on it.

Even if the conveyor system gets set up and installed temporarily, the entire set up and all alignments have to be done correctly to ensure a proper function.
 
 
The Rotate Unit must stay in position if a pallet gets conveyed from the straight conveyor section onto a LOGO!MAT Rotate Unit. The rotation motor has to be turned off and the shot pin has to be locked in one of the index bushings.
 
The operation of the Rotate Unit has to be controlled automatically. The controls are not part of the scope of delivery, if not stated differently.
 
All safety requirements must be considered as the controls and its programming affect the function of the LOGO!MAT Rotate Unit.

The unit has to be positioned so that no rollers scratch at the unit and no pinch point gets created.
 
A relocation of a stop unit can also be done according to the following installation instructions:
  1. Disconnect the Stop Unit from the compressed air supply to avoid injuries.
  2. Remove the mounting clamps from one side of the base plate and loosen the other side slightly.
  3. Place the Stop Unit into the lower slot of the extrusion with the remaining two clamps. Lightly tighten the clamps and install the remaining mounting clamps on the other side. Adjust the unit and intermediate tighten. Please pay attention to the direction of the conveyor flow (note at the drive station) and the arrow at the Stop Unit housing that the operation direction will fit to the flow direction.
  4. Check the position of the stop unit by pushing a pallet against the Stop Unit until the stop pin locks the pallet into position.
  5. Remove the pallet and adjust the stop unit to achieve the required pallet stop location, if necessary.
  6. Once the position is correct, completely tighten all four clamping bolts and connect the pneumatic air supply tubes. (Attention must be paid to the correct locking of the clamping bolts to the conveyor profile.)

  7. Check and adjust the roller configuration if necessary.
  8. Establish the pneumatic and electrical connections according to the provided schematics.
  9. Check the function of the installed non-cushioned Stop Unit.

2-way Diverter: %Changing the drive motor


To change the drive motor, please proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the electrical and pneumatic supply of the entire conveyor system and secure against reconnection.
  2. Remove the entire retaining plate, where the drive motor is mounted to from the bottom rail extrusion. (If necessary remove the plastic safety cover.)

  3. Remove the entire unit, consisting of friction clutch and drive sprocket from the drive shaft with suitable tools.

  4. Remove the four drive motor mounting bolts from the attachment bracket and remove the drive motor completely.

  5. Install the new drive motor in reverse order.
    It is essential to make sure that the drive sprocket is exactly placed on the rack and the backlash is correctly. The play can be adjusted with the given tolerances in the mounting holes.
  6. Move the two-corner element manually to its end position to check the unit for possible mechanical blockages.
  7. Connect the electrical connections and check the function of the entire unit. Check the settings of the friction clutch and adjust those if necessary (see previous chapter).

To change the runner blocks, please proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the electrical and pneumatic supply of the entire conveyor system and secure against reconnection.
  2. Remove the mounting bolts of the two-corner element and remove it completely upwards.

  3. Loosen and remove the four mounting bolts of the runner block (right / left) to the angle bracket.
  4. Slide the runner block to be changed manually, to the end of the guide rail.

  5. Use the plastic runner block supports to avoid losing balls out of them while taking them off the rail.

  6. Put the runner blocks on the guide rails in reverse order.
  7. Install the entire two-corner element.
  8. Move the two-corner element into its end positions to check for possible mechanical blockages.
  9. Connect the electrical connections and check the function of the entire unit.
 
The guide rail must be cleaned before the installation of the new runner blocks. Check manually the freedom of movement of the runner blocks.

2-way Diverter: %Control of the 2-way Diverter


The control of the 2-way Diverter has to be done automatically!
 
To control the transfer of a pallet from an adjoining conveyor segment to the main track by the LOGO!MAT 2-way Diverter, please use the following recommendations:
  1. The arriving pallet must be stopped in front of the diverter area by a LOGO!MAT Stop Unit. The presence of the pallet must be detected by the pallet present sensor.
  2. Depending on the desired conveyor flow direction (right or left), the two-corner element must be positioned accordingly. The right flow direction of the conveyor segment has to be ensured.
  3. If the required position of the two-corner element is confirmed by the end position sensor, no other pallet is located in the 2-way Diverter area and the required area to the conveying direction is confirmed to be free, the stop unit can release the pallet.
  4. The entire process is deemed complete if the pallet has overrun the Hi level sensor behind the diverter area.
  5. The two-corner element can stay in the position and does not necessarily proceed to a defined home position.

2-way Diverter: %Electrical Installation


For the electrical installation, sensors have to be installed in the provided brackets. The wires have to be protected against chafing and secured against unintentional removal. Please pay attention to the correct switching distance and the right sensor size. The controls of the sensors and the used logic can influence the function and the entire performance of the 2-way Diverter dramatically. This is the responsibility of the operating company.
 
The drive unit has to be controlled properly and secured by a motor starter. Softer movements of the 2-way Diverter are possible if a frequency converter is used.

The friction clutch is a safety element and has to be adjusted properly to ensure operator safety. It gets pre-configured by LOGOMAT automation systems, Inc. before delivery. If further adjustments are necessary, please check the operating requirements first. A clutch that has been set too strong may lead to a mechanical overloading of the diverter drive and must be be avoided.
 
You can find more information in the documentation of the friction clutch.
 
To adjust the friction clutch, please proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the electrical and pneumatic supply of the entire conveyor system and secure against reconnection.
  2. Remove the plastic safety cover from underneath to get free access to the friction clutch.
  3. Remove the locking bolt of the friction clutch that the adjusting nut can be turned.
  4. Tighten the adjusting nut by one increment. (Overlay the marks.)
    The friction clutch is not infinitely variable. However, it should be adjusted so the two corner element can be stopped easily by hand manually during operation and movement.
  5. Tighten the locking bolt and make sure that the mark ups match and the holes align.

  6. Install the safety covers and connect all electrical and pneumatic supplies.
  7. Move the two-corner element manually to check the force of the friction clutch. If necessary, please adjust it again according to this description.
  8. Check the 2-way Diverter driven normally to check its function.

2-way Diverter: %Mechanical Installation


The installation must be performed by trained and authorized personnel only.
 
A proper installation and alignment is one of the major factors for proper and reliable function.
 
To install the LOGO!MAT 2-way Diverter, please proceed as follows:
  1. Remove the tape from the conveyor sections and 2-way Diverter used to secure all items during transportation.
  2. Loosen both cross connectors that are pre-mounted under the main conveyor track and move them to the middle of the 2-way Diverter area.
  3. Remove both of the inner corners of the 2-way Diverter with the upper gusset plate by removing the upper mounting bolts.
  4. Pre-level the two adjoining conveyor tracks. Release the locking nuts on the leveling feet and adjust the height of the conveyor segment by turning the threaded rod.
  5. Set up the two conveyor segments to be connected by the 2-way Diverter. The two conveyor segments must be at a 90° angle exactly.
  6. Both inner corner assemblies can be used as an alignment tool. The notches of the top rail connectors have to fit into the cutouts in the upper gusset plates. That ensures an installation in a 90 degree arrangement. Reinstall the inner corners and upper gusset plates and tighten bolts.
  7. Slide the cross connecters so that they line up with the adjoining conveyor extrusions. Tighten the cross connector bolts to the main and adjoining conveyor segments (as shown in the figure below). These connectors accurately align the height level of both conveyor tracks to each other. The correct height still has to be adjusted to ensure safe and proper function.
  8. Level the 2-way Diverter area in all directions to the correct conveyor height, by adjusting the leveling feet. Tighten all connecting bolts and anchor the leg sets to the floor.
  9. Move the two-corner element manually and check the unit for possible mechanical blockages. Check the adjustments of the friction clutch.
  10. Connect the electrical connections and check the function of the entire unit.
Make sure that all of the chain covers are snug in the slot of the inner plastic corners; otherwise, the covers will lift the plastic corner and block the two-corner element from moving!

To change the drive motor, please proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the electrical and pneumatic supply of the entire conveyor system and secure against reconnection.
  2. Remove the protective chain cover to get free access to the friction clutch and the attachment bolts of the drive motor.
  3. Release the chain, by moving the entire drive unit against the running direction of the conveyor (see chaper "tension the chain"), and lift the drive sprocket with the friction clutch with sufficient tools.
  4. Remove the four drive motor mounting bolts from the attachment bracket and remove the drive motor completely.
  5. Remove the drive motor downwards.
  6. Install the new drive motor in reverse order.
  7. Connect the electrical connections.
  8. Check the function of the entire unit. Check the settings of the friction clutch and adjust those if necessary.
  9. Install all protection covers before operating the unit.
