Lift & Locate Unit: %General Maintenance

All LOGO!MAT Components are developed to make very little preservative maintenance necessary but all components will last way longer if the following tasks get do in the shown intervals. The maintenance and inspection work listed below is to be carried out at the listed intervals to keep the warranty and to follow up constantly if the LOGO!MAT Component is working well. Any defects found must be documented and fixed before operating again. All time specifications are based on single-shift operations.

With an interval of one (1) month the following preservative maintenance should be carried out:
  1. Check all parts for wear and damages
  2. Clean the guide shafts (from soiling)
  3. Visual check of the unit for damages and detection of leaks. Replace covers if missing or damaged
  4. Make sure that all safety covers are installed
  5. Check if the unit is working properly

Lift & Locate Unit: %Pneumatic Installation

The pneumatic installation of the Lift & Locate Unit has to be done according to the pneumatic diagram to ensure the correct operation of the unit. The supplied air fittings are designed for 6 mm air tubing. The supplied compressed air must be dried and filtered and the pressure must be set in the defined range.

Flow controls should be used to adjust the lift and lowering motion of the unit.

A clamping unit has to be installed directly to the main air supply to ensure an immediate reaction to a pressure loss. This unit shouldn’t be used for holding the Lift Locate in a certain position; it is just a safety feature.

The integrated and installed LOGO!MAT Cushioned Stop Unit has to be connected pneumatically according to the Stop Unit documentation.

Lift & Locate Unit: %Electrical Installation

Sensors have to be installed in the provided brackets. The wires have to be protected against chafing and secured against unintentional removal. Please pay attention to the correct switching distance and the right sensor size.

The control of the sensors and the used logic can influence the function of the Lift & Locate Unit tremendously. This is the responsibility of the operating company.

The integrated and installed LOGO!MAT Cushioned Stop Unit has to be equipped with sensors according to the stop unit documentation.

To operate the Lift & Locate Unit as safely as possible, please comply with the following information!
  1. Operating the Lift & Locate Unit without a pallet in place is forbidden.
  2. The integrated Stop Unit (cushioned) must only move in its home position, if the pallet is directly over the Lift and Locate Unit!
  3. All service and maintenance work must be performed by authorized technical personnel only and must be performed with all energy devices (e.g. electrical or pneumatic power) shut down and secured against reconnection.

The Lift & Locate Unit is pre-adjusted before delivery. Precise adjustments have to be done with the pallet and its work piece together, and by adjusting the flat index pin to get the pallet properly supported.

Lift Locate Adjustment flat index pin

To adjust the flat index pin, please proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the electrical and pneumatic supply of the entire conveyor system and secure against reconnection.
  2. Loosen the set screw.

Lift Locate Adjustments of flat index pin 3

  3. Screw the flat index pin in or out according to the needed adjustments (with suitable tools). The index pin is pre-tensioned by spring washers to avoid self turning.

Lift Locate Adjustments of flat index pin 4

  4. Push the pallet including the work piece manually above the Lift & Locate Unit, lift the pallet with the unit and check if the pallet has solid support from the indexing plate.
  5. If the position is well defined, remove the pallet of the Lift & Locate Unit and tighten the set screw to secure the rest position.
If not, please adjust the heights again and follow steps 4 and 5 until the pallet sits properly on the index pins.

Lift & Locate Unit: %Mechanical Installation

To install the Lift & Locate Unit into the LOGO!MAT Roller Conveyor, please proceed as follows:
  1. Define the area where the Lift & Locate Unit should be installed. Replace all full rollers with stub rollers in this area. (See the documentation of the Roller Conveyor for detailed installation operation steps.) The stub rollers on the driven side have to be installed with 68 mm spacing; on the non-driven side a spacing of 136 mm is sufficient. In oily conditions, we do suggest using a cross drive to drive both sides of the stub rollers for a better pallet departure.
The required stub rollers are not part of the delivery. They have to be ordered separately in case of a component order.
  2. Mount the entire Lift & Locate Unit [from below, as shown in the figure] with the provided bolts into the slot nuts in the lower slot of the conveyor bottom rail extrusion. Pay attention that the mounting bolts are hand tight so that fine location adjustments are still possible.
Pay attention that the direction of the conveyor flow (information on the drive station) and the arrow of the stop unit of the lift and locate unit match.

    Lift Locate Mech Installation

  3. Push an empty pallet into the cushioned stop unit so that the return stop is locked and the stop unit is in its most forward position.
  4. Check the stop position of the pallet. Make sure that the stop unit has reached its mechanical forward end position.
  5. Adjust the location of the Lift & Locate Unit until the correct position of the pallet is reached, if necessary.
  6. Tighten the mounting bolts of the Lift & Locate Unit with the standard torque for M8 bolts, so that the unit can’t move anymore.
  7. Remove the pallet on top of the unit.
  8. Check for sufficient clearance of the horizontal stop movement manually and adjust the roller configuration if needed to avoid any pinch points or collisions with the rollers.
  9. Supply the pneumatic and electrical connections according to the wiring diagrams.
  10. Check and test the function of the entire Lift & Locate Unit without any weight first before you apply the full pallet weight.
